Jean Baptiste Ruel, son of Jean Baptiste Ruel and Marie Sophronie Tanguay, was born and baptized on 19 Mar 1870 at Lauzon (Saint Joseph de la Pointe Lévy), Lévis, Québec, Canada. By 1881, he was using the given name Édouard, rather than Jean Baptiste. His family emigrated to the United States in 1883, settling in East Tawas, Iosco, Michigan. It was there that "Edward" married Mary Yale, daughter of George Yale and Arvilla Boffee, on 23 Mar 1898. He was the father of two sons. Edward died at the age of 38 in a railroad accident. He was interred in Saint Joseph Cemetery in East Tawas on 10 Sep 1908. His widow remarried in 1910. Please note that William Marquette (aka Marocketti), his sister's husband, was the informant for Edward's death certificate.
