Rev. W.E. Lyons sang solemn requiem high mass in St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Sudbury, at 10 o'clock this morning for Joseph Ruel, aged 69, of 343 Spruce St., Sudbury. He died at home on Friday January2. The church was well filled with friends and relatives. There were many floral and spiritual tributes. Rev. H. Brennan was deacon, with Rev H. Feeney serving as sub-deacon. Father Lyons said graveside prayers. Interment was in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sudbury. Pallbearers were, Paul, Valmore, Arthur, Wilfred and Albert Laforest and Severin Ruel.

Born and educated at St. Menachie, Que., he moved to the Worthington area as a youth and lived there the early part of his life. He was married at Garson in 1913 to the former Matilda Laforest, who survives. For the last 16 years Mr. Ruel was caretaker at St. Albert's Separate School, Sudbury, and also served as sexton at St. Clement's Church since its opening l some 12 years ago. He was a i member of the League of theSacred Heart and theSt. Jean ~ Baptiste Society. For a number of years he was ~ employed as a shipper with the wholesale firm of D. L. McKinnon ~ & Son, of Sudbury. Surviving! besides his widow are four daughters, Mrs. Edgar Lanthier, of Larder Lake, Mrs. Hector Carriere, Mrs. Edmond LaCarte and Francoise Ruel, of Sudbury; two sons, ~ Arthur and Wilfred, of Sudbury; four grandchildren and a brother, Zipharin Ruel, of Quebec. The body is resting at his late residence. Solemn requiem high mass will be i sung in St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church Monday morning, January 5, at 10 o'clock.
